Welcome new Swimmers

Tuesday sessions have finished for the season

We love welcoming new swimmers to our lake; we want to make sure you have a really positive experience so that you will want to come back. Please remember to bring some cash with you because we cannot take cards. Your swim only costs £5. The onsite café also requires cash.

We welcome juniors as long as they swim with an adult, can swim over 50m or are taking part with a swim coach.

Upon arrival to the site, the barrier will have been opened 15 minutes prior to the session; the car park is free during the session and walk towards the lake. We have a unisex changing room, with individual showers that can be used to change in.

One of our staff will be situated by the lake, next to our swimmers board, if it’s your first time, you will need to buy a gosfield hat, hand in your disclaimer form, pay your £5, then write your name on the board and take a band.(fits over wrist or ankle). Entry is via the swimming dock, either by the steps or directly into the lake its approx. 3-4ft deep . Once you have finished your swim, you must hand your band back in and wipe your name off the board, this is how we know you are out of the water.

All courses are swum in a clockwise direction, and our marked by big swim buoys, as we are a water ski lake as well, there are lots of other buoys in the water, please try to avoid these.

Our lake is shallow, the majority of people should be able to stand up, please swim with a buddy if possible. Swim responsibly and know your limits. Stick to the shorter loop if you have any doubts.

Cover all cuts and abrasions, however minor, with sticking plasters. Do not swim if you have deep cuts. Our lake is home to nature and we do have fresh water mussels, please be mindful, near the shore. Wash hands in fresh water before eating after you have swum and take a full shower at the earliest opportunity.

In the unlikely event that you develop any flu-like symptoms after swimming with an open cut/wound please tell your doctor that you have been swimming in open water.

If you are unsure, nervous, interested or just plain nosey just ask myself or any other swimmer, who will be more than happy to help you.
